Just Do It

As with most things I've done in life, I do “just do it.” I know it's the Nike ad campaign, but it's how I approach life. When a new hobby or interest comes a long I, jump in with both feet. Since I can't move as well a I would like, most of my hobbies I do at home. Most are musical (other than this) and most require practice. I suppose that is really how our Christian life is, we are to jump in with both feet and be immersed in God and practice. And since He wants all of our heart, soul, mind and spirit, I suppose He wants my hobbies too—to use as it pleases Him.

We can use or miss use just about everything in life. And I think I've done plenty of both. I have a tendency to do everything I do with all my heart. I don't think that's a bad thing, yet, it means I overlook one goal to pursue another. I would rather spend most of my time with Jesus in listing to Him while exploring His creation than say doing dishes or painting the house. I would rather read my bible than watch another mindless TV show. I would rather use the rest of my life serving Him in His purpose of spreading the Gospel around the earth (so we can get outta here), than working on my car as it breaks down again. Yet, while I can and do those things, I suppose the best thing I can do is to live out my faith in front of my family now. For there will still be time for more adventures in life and serving Christ means serving Him in the place He has placed us. So for now I'll keep doing the dishes. And, yes I'll keep painting the house and working on old broken cars. Even if it hurts too much, I'll keep doing what I do till I can't. And then, I know my Lord will provide help in ways I can't fathom. For our God is like that. He does the impossible.

Oh yeah and remember this, serving others is the best way to take care of yourself.

They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said,“Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.””

Mark 9:33-35 NIV
