The
Lord
is
exalted, for he dwells on high;
he will fill Zion with his justice and righteousness.
He will be the sure foundation for your times,
a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge;
the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.

Isaiah 33:5-6 NIV
Where
is our trust?
Is
our hope in a new president?
Is
our hope in a future economic boom?
May
be we hope for higher home prices, to make moving worth while? Or perhaps lower
home prices to make buying less expensive?
Adjusted
economics, up or down, never makes for a sure foundation. Wealth is a
fleeting vapor. It goes even faster than the years of this life.
Reading Ecclesiastes this week reminded me life under the sun can
distract us from life through the Son. So,
remember your foundation. Jesus is my foundation and that of my
families. He is salvation. Jesus brings both the future hope of heaven and the everyday usefulness of a salvation endowed with His “wisdom
and knowledge.”
The
word of God is for use in everyday life. It teaches the godly, practical ways to deal with people and the affairs of life. (And, you
would be surprised how often tough circumstances require a judgment
call.) It shows us how to prove out loving God and people. I fail
more often than I want to ever admit. But, were it not for God's
instruction book on life, I would get it all wrong. I like the way
Isaiah said it best: Stop
trusting
in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold
them in esteem? Isaiah 2:22 NIV
