If you could look forward
into the future, you would know where your choices would carry you. Of courses
we can’t do that, but think of where are our current habits are leading
us? What is my current rut and where’s
it going? People love ruts. I mean we are creatures of habit, even if our habit
is avoiding them. We have cycles and patterns of the foods we eat, and the
places we go; we even have routines in personal grooming and a list that could
go on and on. These cycles repeat until the record’s bumped. I’m referring to
the old scratched records we used to play. Yeah, I’m getting old! Slowly we’re
bumped into new flows and groves. It’s said, “The only thing that’s certain is
change.” But, after each change, we look for a new rut. We look for the comfort
of familiarity.
While I say this out loud in
this public place, it’s really just for me. I’m ready for another bump. I want
to move closer to Jesus. I want to shed away more of the “world,” and love more
like Christ.
Move me forward Jesus, move
us forward!
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If
anyone loves the world, love for the Father is
not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the
flesh, the lust of the eyes, and
the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but
whoever does the will of God lives forever.” I John 2:15-17 NIV
